Nucleus USB Hardware Controller Drivers
Nucleus USB provides a series of hardware driver components. The USB specification includes an electrical standard that is implemented by various silicon vendors. It also defines register set standards for hardware controllers on a USB host. It does not define register set standards for hardware controllers on USB devices because they cannot prohibit low cost solutions that might be deeply implemented in custom silicon. Regardless, Nucleus USB has defined an extensible bus interface layer for both hosts and devices to allow Nucleus hardware drivers to be ported into USB hardware controllers.
For each USB hardware component in your USB host or USB peripheral system, you need a respective side of Nucleus USB hardware driver, i.e. a Nucleus USB Host controller driver or a Nucleus USB Function controller driver. For a dual-role USB OTG system, you need Nucleus USB OTG controller driver to handle a Host Negotiation Protocol (HNP) that automatically determines which system is the host and which is the device. You can also write your own hardware driver with relative ease by leveraging a wealth of Nucleus USB base hardware driver functionality included with every copy of Nucleus USB.
