Nucleus PictBridge
Due to the rapid market penetration of digital
cameras, consumers are demanding an easier way to print images rather
than the traditional, cumbersome way of downloading pictures to a PC
and then to a printer. The PictBridge standard, from the Camera &
Imaging Products Association (CIPA), provides a way to print directly
from a digital camera to a printer regardless of the make of either,
without requiring a computer in between. The Nucleus PictBridge
software is designed so that developers can quickly and easily develop
PictBridge-compliant digital cameras and printers so that any brand of
digital camera can communicate with any brand of printer.
The Nucleus PictBridge software is independent of the
physical interface or transport layer protocol. The first release of
the Nucleus PictBridge software has been integrated with the Nucleus
USB stack and the Nucleus USB Still Image class driver for direct
printing between printer and digital camera via USB. The Nucleus
PictBridge Host enables a PictBridge-compliant printer and the Nucleus
PictBridge Function creates a PictBridge-compliant digital camera or
mobile handset equipped with a camera.
