Enables standard compliant file systems for embedded systems

There are increasing needs for embedded systems to provide large amounts of off-line data storage as desktop systems for future analysis and continued operation of the system. Traditionally, these requirements have been met by creating a proprietary file system, or recreating a file system that is compatible with a standard format. In creating a proprietary file system, the results are often not portable and only serve a limited use. In recreating a file system that is compatible with a standard format, the effort is so great that either compatibility is not achieved or only limited capabilities are available. Therefore, to support these requirements, Accelerated Technology provides Nucleus FILE, a full-featured, high performance and standard-compliant file system for embedded systems.

Designed from the ground up and tightly integrated Nucleus component

Nucleus FILE has been designed from the ground up for embedded systems. As a result, Nucleus FILE includes all of our customer’s favorite embedded software features that are common to all Nucleus real-time software. Nucleus FILE is a Nucleus-proper component. As an integrated Nucleus component, Nucleus FILE takes advantage of Nucleus primitives and multi-tasking services to allow multiple tasks to access file information simultaneously. Nucleus FILE works with other Nucleus products seamlessly. For example, Nucleus FILE device management software allows the Nucleus USB mass storage software to leverage the media and protocol support already present in the Nucleus FILE software to provide a mechanism for an application to access a mass storage device.

A fast, small, portable and modularized embedded FILE system solution

Like all Nucleus software, Nucleus FILE is a fast, small, portable and modularized solution for creating high-performance and standard-compliant embedded file systems. Nucleus FILE is comprised of a file management system and device driver framework. Nucleus FILE software supports the MS-DOS that is often referred to as a FAT file system. ISO9660 file system support is also available. Nucleus FILE device management software supports drivers for a number of industry standard devices such as IDE/ATA hard drives, Compact Flash, SD/MMC cards, floppy disks, and SCSI devices. PCMCIA and CDROM support also are available for IDE/ATA and ATAPI compatible drives respectively. Thus, Nucleus FILE scales to your needs and provides a straightforward path towards building a system with standard file systems-compatible off-line storage facilities.

Provides source code and templates for easy porting

Nucleus FILE provides complete source code and design templates to allow proprietary hardware device drivers to be quickly developed and incorporated into the Nucleus FILE environment with relative ease.
